We are over the moon to see our vision of a beautiful venue take shape on Appleton City Lake. There are more additions on the way this spring, but we are already taking reservations for 2020 and to our amazement and gratitude, dates are beginning to fill! The Wedding House

East of Butler, you’ll find a quaint country house filled to the brim with rental decor items that can be individually or group rented or as part of our decorating services. Seriously a WHOLE house, two floors full, dedicated to all things vintage and cool. You can even listen to real old-time player piano while you browse. Viewings by Appointment

We think personal service is important and want to be available just for you when you visit. Viewings of The Wedding House or Lakeview venue are by appointments, though we try hard to accommodate your schedule as much as possible. Community Vespers Service Dec 2019

We are so honored to host as our very first event the Appleton City Community Christmas Vespers service as performed by the community band and choir on Dec 8, 2019. It was thrilling to share such a beautiful Christmas celebration. Thank you to the over 250 folks who came out! Merry Christmas to all!

Directions to Lake View By Sue Barn Venue

Everyone is invited to join us in celebrating the Christmas Season during the Community Christmas Vespers Service on Sunday, Dec 8, 2019, 4:30 pm. The service will be presented by the community choir under the direction of Karla Kelly and Jeannette Hill. We are so honored to get to host this beautiful event and want everyone to have the chance to enjoy a beautiful candlelight service.

You’ll find our new Lake View by Sue Barn Venue on Appleton City Lake, just west of the lake’s recreation area. Click the map to go to Google Maps. Driving directions from 52 Hwy west of Appleton City: take county road 15305 south about 1 mile. Turn Left on county road 2576 and go about 0.2 miles. It will be on your Right and you can’t miss it!

You can easily take other roads instead. This is the shortest gravel road route.

There is LOTS of parking and plenty of room with this 400 guest venue. We are so excited to host the beautiful event for our community! Please come and invite your friends!

Lake View by Sue is on its way!

We are over the moon to see our dream of Lake View by Sue wedding venue starting to take shape. This beautiful lake is meant to be shared, and we couldn’t think of a better way to share it then on the special days of weddings and events. Planned to be a 400-guest barn venue with places for stunning pictures, we were lucky enough to snag the talent of a builder who has built for Johnny Morris, Sam Walton, and even a few former presidents!

Lit by huge chandeliers, the grand room will have on one end a beautiful staircase for a grand entrance and the opposite end a huge glass cross that will be the perfect picture backdrop, both from inside or out. Plus, there will be wedding party dressing chambers and both inside and outside reception areas.

There will be so many perfect amenities to talk about as it all comes together. And the plan is for it to be done before Christmas! So feel free to reach out now to discuss more or reserve your 2020 date!

The Wedding House in the Country

It’s a destination in itself! Come see the pretty white house in the country 100% dedicated to our decorating treasures. Browse while listening to an authentic player piano! Centerpieces, bottles, barrels, lanterns, signs, table clothes in all colors or vintage lace, runners, cloth, blackboards, garland, flowers, tables, doors, backdrops, photo booth props, and SO MUCH MORE! Country Decor, Decor Rental, and Custom Signs

We LOVE spring! The weather is nicer, flowers start to bloom, and before you know it, it is prom and wedding season, our favorite!

Are you looking for just the right look at your next wedding or event? Maybe you have your favorite saying or Bible verse you want featured. We LOVE to help with all of those things. We can do the decorating for you, offer unique decor for rent, or create custom signs.

Bonus, we now have white violins for our violin music duo!

Summer Weddings

did you receive something special this winter?

We are so excited for all the newly engaged couples out there! Congratulations. 

In the spirit of holiday giving, we wanted to give you a few tips to make the planning as easy possible. Here are a few tips that we've came up with to help start the wedding planning.

1. sit down with your partner right now, and discuss expectations, desires, needs, and everything else under the sun regarding your wedding. There are a ton of great resources for this brainstorming session, our wedding questionnaire included - maybe a list will be our next post!

2. during said talk, make a budget and discuss who will pay for what. Talk to the people in your life that you think will want a hand in paying (parents, grandparents, wealthy great uncles... whoever!) and make sure to know their expectations. Last thing you want is to dream up a destination wedding with a gold foil cake when you do not have that type of budget.

3. listen to your heart. If you love something and want something, then fight for it. This wedding is for you and your future spouse, don't forget that. Compromises will happen, but don't be afraid to put a foot down for a thing or two.

4. plan early, select vendors early, and communicate! If you wait till the last minute, you'll be even more stressed than you need to. Plan ahead for all of the big stuff, especially selecting that amazing photographer that everyone loves or that quaint little rental shop that specifically caters to dreamy, midwestern wedding *cough* - then you won't have to worry about them not being available down the road! Trust us, the last thing you want is to call your dream photographer and they tell you that your date was booked last week.

5. have fun. This is such an exciting time in your life, so try not to stress too much. Go out on dates, laugh a lot, and remind your partner how excited you are to be marrying them!

We hate to leave you hanging, but we've been a little bit busy lately! The summer wedding season has quickly moved to the fall wedding season, and projects have kept us on our toes!

That being said, we wanted to share some of the beautiful things happening at Vintage View!

one - of course, weddings!

Seriously, can you just pause for a second and give yourself some applause? Brides and grooms, moms and dads, brothers and sisters, friends, and friends-of-friends... you all deserve so many hugs (and probably a spa day too...). We are so blessed to know so many wonderful people who "wow" us with their weddings, then refer their friends - who keep the amazing comin'! We appreciate you so much, and each of us at Vintage View by Sue are so proud to live in a community where people support local businesses... even ones ran by crazy mail ladies who hide away treasures in a milk barn!

You're on it right now, and we hope you think it looks as great as we do. The progress is slow, but the updates to our site keep coming. Check out our rental tab, and you will get a look at what Carly has been slaving away at the last few weeks! Our rental list is LIVE! This means that you can see what we rent (and the price!) before you come to the House!

When you came to pick up rentals, we consolidated our goodies and went room by room ripping out carpet and painting our floors. I must say (as a non-painter), that they look pretty awesome! You might have noticed no photos of our newly finished floors on the highlight reel, and that's on purpose. Come out and see them!

a guide to: dreamy tablescapes

If our Pinterest has not already given it away, we love a good tablescape. For those that do not spend their days living and breathing in the wedding world, this might not be the case. 

Because we know and accept that many brides do not have the time to dedicate to planning perfectly crafted tables, we wanted to give you a good place to start. And of course, we had to start with a theme that is filled to the brim with a vintage, garden part charm that we love!

The Missouri weather was not making nice for a garden dinner party, so we wanted to bring a bit of the outdoors inside for this fun occasion. Most of our summer has been to hot, muggy, and all around sticky, so we needed a bit of garden and a lot of AC.

For this set-up, we worked with our large collection of mismatched china. We love the look they bring to the table (pun intended)! Pairing the fine china with quirky feed sacks added a casual feel to the very fancy floral prints and gold rimmed dishes. We added greenery from one of our $10 tubs, and added votives and candle sticks to add some romance to the occasion.

And we love it all!

Looking for wedding inspiration? It is no secret that all of us at Vintage View by Sue love to look towards Pinterest when trying to visualize a new story for a piece. But sometimes, Pinterest can be your worst enemy. With millions of photos of beautiful weddings, it can be overwhelming and disheartening at times. How are you suppose to know how to turn whiskey barrels into a bar, and where do you even get those?! (*we might know a place*)

Carly, our soon-to-be-bride, has been sifting through some of the most popular Pinterest wedding photos, and today we will start a new segment to show you how to build your perfect Pinterest wedding.

Hello everyone! As someone with a wedding in the near future, I’ve spent more than an hour or two perusing wedding boards. And while 97% of that is selfish, I also catch myself constantly thinking “wow, I could build this solely from Vintage View items”. And that, my friends, is much more financially friendly than buying it all.

Today, we are going to start small – with those beautifully crafted decorative items hiding in the corners of every Pinterest wedding. Ever seen this gorgeous ladder?  

It’s rustic, it is springtime fabulous, and those mason jars are meant for dreamy wedding photos with the bride and groom dancing in the forefront. And we have a light and bright version, just for you, created below!

We went without lights on this cloudy day, but battery-operated LED lights would add a special twinkle underneath a tent in the summer, or in a barn on a crisp fall night.
